Ultrafiltration (UF) Systems Advantages

Ultrafiltration (UF) membranes systems are more reliable than a conventional multi-media filter, which removed approximately 10 micron or larger of matter, where an ultrafiltration membrane pore size ranges from 0.01 to 0.10 micron.  In addition to superior turbidity removal, UF membranes efficiently remove bacteria and most viruses.

In order to relieve the UF membrane from the contamination by such holdbacks and maintain the water yielding stability of UF membrane module, UF plants are provided with the laminated filter in front of UF membrane module to remove large particles in raw water, and it also has auto wash function (forward washing + backward washing), which can regularly wash the UF membranes during the system operation. Raw water, after pressurization, enters the UF membrane cavity of capillary UF membrane (molecular weight cut-off: 50,000Dalton, cut-off pore size: 0.01um). With the filtration of UF membranes, the bacteria, algae, suspensions, colloid and other macromolecular organic substances in raw water are held back by UF membranes, while the purified water permeates from membrane wall and gathers together to yield ultrafiltrated water.

In many cases the UF is used also as pre-treatment of RO plants or when is required to produce a drinkable water Legionella free.
